Mendip Outdoor Pursuits and Activities

''I enjoyed the event and its activities. It was a good way of demonstrating the benefits of everybody working together.''

Astrium contacted us, they had a team of technicians who were senior engineers and junior managers, from a varied background, some were ex-military and others not. They worked closely together but were based in three areas of the country. They needed to improve their communication skills to operate better as a team.

They wanted a date in mid to late October, 'somewhere pretty'. They wanted to use accommodation where they share one large dormitory but have plenty of food provided. They wanted the programme to take the team out of their comfort zones and include some challenging activities.

We put a programme together based in the Forest of Dean over three days concluding with a rafted decent of the white water rapids at Symonds Yat.

We followed up 2 months after the course; below are some of comments made about the event:

"My overall impression was that it was a very worthwhile exercise, which enhanced cooperation between the 3 groups. I feel I gained some valuable team building skills which I am already bringing into my working environment. I believe this would benefit many more people within the company."

"I thought the course was excellent, both in the way it was structured and in the way it was run. The session based on trust and teamwork really hit the mark and its effects were demonstrated beautifully by the team exercises over the rest of the course."

"I enjoyed the event and its activities. It was a good way of demonstrating the benefits of everybody working together."

"Excellent event, good fun and delivered the message very effectively. I found the team building event to be a well structured and implemented course focussing on individual and team collaboration, and how to choose the best course of action for the greater good of all involved. The course provided various fun challenges such as orienteering, abseiling and rafting (inc. making the raft in the first place, with all the myriad design decisions involved) while there are many sub-games along the way that try to make you consider how best any one goal can be achieved, and how competing or collaborating will strongly effect the outcome."

"Anyone attending this course will undoubtedly come away from it with a greater perspective of how their own and other's actions have profound knock-on effects and, I believe, a heightened desire and ability to make the right calls and try to "pull together" as one. Highly recommended."
