- Jim Hayward buys his first fiberglass kayaks and a little trailer

- Mendip Outdoor Pursuits is offically born and operated from a bedroom in Yatton
1988
- Jim teaches pool canoeing in exchange for caving coaching and gets another qualification
- Numbers increase, Mendip's first staff member starts in exchange for board and lodging
- Mendip buys its first set of climbing and abseiling equipment
1989
- A little more room is needed, the company moves to Congresbury for the first time.
- Mendip becomes the proud owner of its first mini bus
- A half day activity cost just £6.00
1990
- The first assault course is built near Bath
- Tim Partridge, the longest serving member of the team, starts his first days training
- Caving is offered to Mendip clients for the first time
1991
- The Centre moves to Banwell to a large farmhouse with a lot more space
- Mendip celebrates running 1000 activity sessions
- The first fleet of open canoes arrive
1993
- Our assault course moves to its current location at Hewish
- The Centre gets its fourth full time member of staff
1994
- Mike Moxon joins the company for his first season
